EtymologyEdit

From Proto-Germanic *warmaz, whence also Old English wearm, Old Saxon warm, Old Frisian warm, Old High German warm, Gothic *𐍅𐌰𐍂𐌼𐍃 (*warms). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰer- (warm, hot) or alternatively *wer- (to burn).
