  1. Land that has never been explored or developed.
    Synonyms: greenfield, virgin field
  2. (figurative, by extension) Ideas or concepts or activities that have not yet been tried, explored or developed.
    The company had engineered plenty of products, but manufacturing them was virgin territory.
