Cognate with Turkish yavaş, Karachay-Balkar джууаш (cuuaş, quiet,mild), Karaim йуваш and йувас, Krymchak йуваш (quiet, calm), Kazakh жуас (juas), Nogai ювас (yuvas), Bashkir йыуаш (yıwaş), Southern Altai јобош (ǰoboš), Turkmen ýuwaş, Khakas чабас (çabas) ,Shor чобаш, Tuvan чааш (çaaş), etc.
