ytwꜥw-bꜥr
Egyptian
editEtymology
editThe second element is a rendering of the Semitic theonym Baal, ultimately from Proto-Semitic *baʕl- (“lord”); see also Egyptian bꜥr (“Baal”) as a loanword. The first element may be a transcription of a word derived from a Semitic root for ‘to know’ also reflected in יָדַע. The meaning of the whole is then perhaps ‘Acquaintance of Baal’.
