Etymology edit
From metatheses of the early Azerbaijani uyxu, uyqu or from an apheresis of Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (uyuχu);[1] ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ūdï-ku, a derivation of Proto-Turkic *ūdï- (“to sleep”).
