Etymology edit

From Proto-Albanian *džārnā with long *ā < *ē, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷerh₃- (to swallow). Close to Lithuanian žarnà (gut), Latvian zarna (intestines), Old Norse gǫrn (gut).[1] Alternatively from *ǵʰer- (guts, entrails, bowels, intestine).
