Luxembourgish edit

Etymology edit

From zwee (two) +‎ Ee (egg) +‎ -eg, after German zweieiig (literally two-eggy). Luxembourgish uses ë to indicate hiatus in some cases, but only for the short or reduced vowel [ə]; therefore the spelling is zweeeeëg and not *zweeëeëg.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ˈtsveːˌeːeχ/, [ˈt͡sweːˌʔeː.əɕ]

Adjective edit

zweeeeëg (masculine zweeeeëgen, neuter zweeeeëgt, not comparable)

  1. dizygotic, non-identical (twins, etc.)
