Etymology edit

From Byzantine Greek μαζεύω (mazeúō) from Hellenistic Ancient Greek ὁμαδεύω (homadeúō, collect) (see ὁμάς (homás, the whole)). Adapted to μαζί (mazí, together)[1] and μᾶζα (mâza, barley-bread)[2] by folk etymology.
