From same root as τεύχω (teúkhō), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewgʰ- (to be ready, be sufficient). Compare Lithuanian daũg (much, many), Old Saxon dōg (to be suitable), Proto-Slavic *dugь (strength, power).
