- portion, an allocated amount, (chiefly) a portion of food, a serving, helping
- (informal, with certain adjectives) an amount (of some size)
Usage notes edit
- The German word cannot mean “part of a whole” in general. For example such constructions as *eine Portion des Films (“a portion of the film”), *eine Portion der Straße (“a portion of the road”) would be meaningless.
