Dropping the middle "о"

Considering I have lived my whole life near a beach and heard this word quite frequently and never even knew that there was an extra vowel between the "д" and the "р", I think it's say to say that it is frequently dropped in speech. Next you'll be telling me that the "од" is never dropped in двоюродный. --WikiTiki89 22:48, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

You have surprised me again. I grew up on the beach (on the Black Sea coast) as well. I never heard such pronunciations. If they exist, I wouldn't spread them, they would be too rare or individual. The drop happens but not in these words. Do you really hear /dvɐˈjʉrnɨj/? I'd like to know who speaks so.

I don't know how to resolve this dispute. Perhaps, it needs to be cited. There are some knowledgeable people on the Russian Wiktionary, who may be able to dig something up for you or reveal accents they've heard. I can post a question, if one or two people confirm, we can add restore your IPA on двоюродный and here. If you search Google for "двоюрный" or "водросли", you can find tons of instances of such misspellings, including people asking what the correct spelling is. I think that's enough evidence that these pronunciations exist, even if only colloquially. --WikiTiki89 23:07, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I agree with the epenthetic е, but Anatoli always seemed to remove them when I added them and I never thought of it as a big deal. --WikiTiki89 11:56, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Не вижу проблем с "водоросель", такое написание очень популярно в фольклоре, да из-за альтернативного смягчения "с" перед "ль" делает произношение немного неудобным. В любом случае, есть аудиозапись. --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 23:00, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
