From Ottoman Turkish طوغری (doğrı), from Proto-Turkic *togru. Cognate with Kyrgyz туура (tuura), Uzbek toʻgʻri, Turkmen dogry, Old Turkic [script needed] (toğru, toğuru, toğrı), derivative from Old Turkic [script needed] (toğur-). Related to direk, dik, and direnmek.
