Relational adjective of Juchten (“yuft, Russia leather”), which see for more. The adjective may be from Russian юхть (juxtʹ) + German -en (“made of”), and the noun from the adjective. Alternatively, the adjective is from the noun with reinterpretation of -en as that suffix (instead of awkward *juchtenen).
