întreba

RomanianEdit

EtymologyEdit

From Latin interrogāre, present active infinitive of interrogō, perhaps under the influence of treabă. Doublet of the borrowing interoga.

Direct inheritance of interrogāre would not yield întreba (compare rogāre to ruga). The form could be explained either through an unattested Vulgar Latin form *inter-roguare or under the influence of Slavic loanword treabă.
