editOf obscure, but probably non-Greek origin. Compare the Lycian settlement Βουβών (Boubṓn), thought by Ptolemy, Pliny, and Stephanus to be related to Βούδειον (Boúdeion).[1][2] Also compare Βούθεια (Boútheia), Boutheia, also of Anatolian origin.[3]
