Inherited from Ancient Greek ἀτελείωτος (ateleíōtos), morphologically α- (a-, un-, a-, not, privative) +‎ τελειώ(νω) (teleió(no), I finish) +‎ -τος (-tos). Shift of stress backwards, dates from Medieval era. Compare to the learned borrowing ατελείωτος (ateleíotos).
