From δύσπνοος (dúspnoos, short of breath, adjective) (also δύσπνους (dúspnous) by contraction) +‎ -ῐᾰ (-ia, suffix forming abstract nouns), from δῠσ- (dus-, bad-, hard-, ill-) +‎ πνέω (pnéō, blow, breathe) +‎ -ος (-os, suffix forming adjectives).
