    • 1115 – 1195, Eustathius of Thessalonica, Commentarii ad Homeri Iliadem et Odysseam 906.53:
      καὶ θάμβος μὲν ἡ ἔκπληξις, θαμβός δὲ κατὰ ὀξεῖαν τάσιν ὁ ἐκπλαγείς
      kaì thámbos mèn hē ékplēxis, thambós dè katà oxeîan tásin ho ekplageís
      Similarly, "θάμβος" means 'astonishment', while "θαμβός" (in accordance with its oxytone accent) means 'astonished'.
