EtymologyEdit

Borrowed from Akkadian 𒄀 (qanû, reed) (whence Mycenaean Greek 𐀒𐀜𐀛𐀠 (ko-no-ni-pi /konōni-pʰi/)), from Sumerian 𒄀𒈾 (gi.na). There are indications that it may have come through Pre-Greek.
