Etymology edit

Learnedly, from Ancient Greek λῆμμᾰ (lêmma), from *λῆβ-μα. For stem ληβ-, see verb λαμβάνω (lambánō).[1]

    My dictionary has over 80,000 entries.
  2. (mathematics, logic) lemma (proved theorem used in the proof of another)
