Etymology edit

From Proto-Indo-European *sperǵʰ- (to move energetically, hurry, spring), the same root of Sanskrit स्पृहयति (spṛháyati, to be eager), Proto-Germanic *springaną (to burst forth) and Lithuanian spreñgti (to push (in)).
