      Πόλις δ’ ὁμοῦ μὲν θυμιαμάτων γέμει,
      ὁμοῦ δὲ παιάνων τε καὶ στεναγμάτων.
      Pólis d’ homoû mèn thumiamátōn gémei,
      homoû dè paiánōn te kaì stenagmátōn.
      The city is full of both incense-offerings,
      as well as paeans and groans.
