Through Old East Slavic [Term?] from Old Church Slavonic Тѵхѡнъ (Tüxonŭ), from Ancient Greek Τύχων (Túkhōn, male name, originally an epithet of Hermes), akin to τύχον (túkhon, lucky), from τύχη (túkhē) and τυγχάνω (tunkhánō), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewgʰ-.
