Etymology edit

A genericized trademark from the German Ankerplast plaster brand, whose name in turn derives from Anker (anchor) +‎ Plastir (plaster).

Usage notes edit

The word ле́пенка (lépenka) is commonly used to refer to any kind of wound plaster, whereas а́нкерпласт (ánkerplast) specifically entails one with an antiseptic chemical included. лейкопла́ст (lejkoplást) is similar, meaning a plaster or a cast.
