From Proto-Slavic *ujь plus a suffix, cognate with Serbo-Croatian ујак/ujak, also ујко/ujko, Slovene ujac, Russian вуй (vuj) and уй (uj), Ukrainian вуй (vuj) and Slovak ujo.
