Bulgarian edit

Etymology edit

Perhaps of Oghur origin, from Proto-Turkic *köbüŕ (rug). Mladenov alternatively theoretizes possible origin from dialectal гу́ба (gúba, enfolding, wrapping) +‎ -ер (-er), although suffix -ер (-er) typically yields agent nouns rather than instrumentals.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): [ˈɡubɛr]
  • (file)

гу́бер (gúberm

  1. thick rug, blanket (typically used as a covering for bed, coach; occasionally as tapestry for wall)
    Synonyms: покрива́ло (pokriválo), зави́вка (zavívka)
