Etymology

Inherited from Old Ruthenian нагоро́да (nahoróda), borrowed from Middle Polish nagroda in XVI (whence also Old Ruthenian нагро́да (nahróda)), remodeled after native pleophonic forms, such as городъ, городити (horod, horoditi). [1][2]
