Mongolian

edit

Etymology

edit
  1. Likely from a merger of two Proto-Mongolic verbs: *seri- (to wake up) and *sere- (to notice), compare Buryat һэрихэ (herixe), Kalmyk серх (serx), Dongxiang xierei (to wake up).
  2. The assumed Mongolic verb *sere- probably derives from Proto-Turkic *seŕ-, *sēŕ- (to feel, understand), compare Turkish sezmek.
