Etymology

edit

The older spelling is probably ածուղ (acuł), from Proto-Armenian *a(w)cúɫo, from *anwcúɫ-o-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ngʷ-ōl-o-, from *h₁óngʷl̥. The form ածուխ (acux) probably arose under the influence of ծուխ (cux, smoke).
