From Proto-Indo-European *kyu-to-. Cognate with Sanskrit च्यवते (cyávate, move to and fro, stir), Old Persian 𐎠𐏁𐎡𐎹𐎺𐎶 (a-š-i-y-v-m /⁠šiyav-⁠/, to set forth), Northern Kurdish çûn (to go), Classical Persian شدن (šudan, to go) and Ancient Greek σεύω (seúō, put in quick motion, drive). The verb չուեմ (čʻuem) is from Proto-Indo-European *kyew-. The root չոգ- (čʻog-), which is the aorist stem of երթամ (ertʻam, to go), is from Proto-Indo-European *kyow-.
