Etymology edit

From սուր (sur, sharp) +‎ ունչ (unčʻ, nose) +‎ -ակ (-ak). Probably an imprecise calque of German Spitzmaus, coined by the Mekhitarists of Vienna.

      The shrew, although also called narrow-nosed "mouse", does not belong to the genus of mice.
