EtymologyEdit

The original spelling is աւրհնեմ (awrhnem), by metathesis from earlier աւհրնեմ (awhrnem), from *աւհրինեմ (*awhrinem), from Middle Iranian *āfrīnam: compare Avestan 𐬁𐬟𐬭𐬍𐬥𐬁𐬨𐬌(āfrīnāmi, I praise), Persian آفرین(âfarin). Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *preyH-. Aghwan 𐔰𐕔𐕙𐔴 (afre) is from the same source.
