From the root ר־א־ה (r-ʾ-h). In form, it is the passive participle of the verb רָאָה (ra'á), but semantically, the most common senses of the verb are not closely related to the most common senses of the adjective.

רָאוּי (ra'úy) (feminine רְאוּיָה, masculine plural רְאוּיִים, feminine plural רְאוּיוֹת)

  1. Good, fitting, appropriate, desirable, suitable.
    • שלשה עשר עקרים
      ה. אני מאמין באמונה שלמה שהבורא יתברך שמו לו לבדו ראוי להתפלל ואין ראוי להתפלל לזולתו.
      5. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, blessed be His name, just to Him it is fitting to pray, and it is not fitting to pray to anyone besides Him.
