اِغْتَمَّ (iḡtamma) VIII, non-past يَغْتَمُّ‎ (yaḡtammu)

  1. to be affected by grief, to be sad
    • 7th century CE, Ṣaḥīḥ al-Buḵāriyy, 67:98:
      حَتَّى تَصَدَّعُوا كُلُّهُمْ عَنْهَا، فَخَرَجَ مِنْهُمْ مَنْ خَرَجَ، وَبَقِيَ نَفَرٌ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ قَالَ وَجَعَلْتُ أَغْتَمُّ،
      ḥattā taṣaddaʕū kulluhum ʕanhā, faḵaraja minhum man ḵaraja, wabaqiya nafarun yataḥaddaṯūna qāla wajaʕaltu ʔaḡtammu,
      When all of them had finished their meals some of them left and a bunch remained talking which made me dolorous.
  2. to become tall, to become luxuriant, to be copiose
