    From Aramaic חַסָּא (ḥassā), from Akkadian 𒌑𒄭𒄑𒊬 (ḫassū, lettuce), from Sumerian 𒄭𒄑𒊬 (ḫi-izsar /⁠hiz⁠/, lettuce); cognates with Classical Syriac ܚ̈ܲܣܸܐ (ḥassā) and Hebrew חַסָּה (ḥássā). Note also Old Armenian հազար (hazar).
