Etymology 1

From Sanskrit द्वार (dvāra), from the root द्वृ (dvṛ, “to cover”); ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰworom. Cognate with Marathi दार (dār, “door”). Doublet of دَروازٕ (darvāzụ), however this word differs in meaning.

     chuk ladān āsmānas myaċụy! ḍāy gaz zạmīn lāni chay pānas
     lạzith hay lạzith kas kiċụy?

     In your youth you feared baths and cleansing
     Oh fool, now your beard has turned white
     You collected and gave to the mason and carpenter
     Raising the earth to the sky!
     But only two and a half yards of earth is alloted to you(r grave)
     You raised the building, but whom for?
