Ottoman Turkish

Etymology

This word ultimately evolved from Proto-Turkic *tāmgāk (“throat”), from *tam- (“to drip; drop”); compare طاملامق (damlamak, “to drip”), طاملا (damla, “drop”) and Azerbaijani damaq.
