Etymology edit

Borrowed from Classical Persian عهده ('uhda), from Arabic عُهْدَة (ʕuhda). Compare Punjabi ਓਹਦਾ (ohadā), ਅਹੁਦਾ (ahudā) / عہدہ (ʻhdh), اوہدا, Sindhi عَهُدو / हुदो, Gujarati હોદ્દો (hoddo), Marathi हुद्दा (huddā), Telugu హోదా (hōdā).
