editFrom Aramaic נָנְחָא / ܢܳܢܚܳܐ (nānḥā, “toothpickweed”), from Akkadian 𒈾𒉌𒄷 (/naniḫu/, “toothpickweed”), which is the same Hurrian word as reflected in نَعْنَاع (naʕnāʕ, “mint”).
