EtymologyEdit

From earlier چاکو(čâku) from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (ckwc /čakuč/, hammer), from Avestan 𐬗𐬀𐬐𐬎𐬱(cakuš, battle-axe), from Proto-Indo-European *keku- (cudgel, hammer shaped stick). Related to Ottoman Turkish چاقی(çakı).
