Uncertain.

Read in Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kaẟō). In Gilaki کوی (kūī, gourd; bowl, vessel, stop). Possibly related to Sanskrit कटु (kaṭu, bitter), or a variant reflex of کندو (kandū, beehive; a large clay bin for grain) extended from Aramaic כּדּא (kaddā), כַּנְדָּא (kandā), from Old Tamil 𑀓𑀺𑀡𑁰𑀝𑀺 (kiṇṭi).
