अहिच्छत्र

Etymology

Borrowed from Sanskrit अहिच्छत्र (ahicchatra), which is in itself a derivation of अहिक्षेत्र (ahikṣetra).

It was the southern part of Panchal country situated in northwestern Indian subcontinent during ancient times. In Mahabharata, Arjun defeated king Drupada of Panchal and gave this country to his guru Drona as a token of gurudakshina.
