Borrowed from Sanskrit कठिन (kaṭhina). Compare Gujarati કઠિન (kaṭhin), Hindi कठिन (kaṭhin), Kannada ಕಠಿನ (kaṭhina), Punjabi ਕਠਿਨ (kaṭhin) / کٹھِن (kṭhin), ਕਠਨ (kaṭhan) / کٹھن (kṭhn), Bengali কঠিন (koṭhin).
