editInherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀺 (muṭṭhi) (compare Old Marathi 𑘦𑘳𑘙𑘲 (muṭhī)), from Sanskrit मुष्टि (muṣṭí), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *muštíš. Cognate with Konkani मूट (mūṭ), Hindi मुट्ठी (muṭṭhī).
