Etymology edit

From শাহী (śahī) + নহবৎ (nohobot), the latter of which is a corrupted form of নওবৎ (noubôt). Both terms are derived from Classical Persian شاهی and نوبت, with the latter being ultimately derived from Arabic نَوْبَة (nawba).
