მდელოჲ

Old Georgian edit

Etymology edit

From Proto-Armenian *deło (vegetation, grass, herb), the ancestor of Old Armenian դեղ (deł), genitive դեղոյ (dełoy).[1][2][3]

If, however, this word is cognate with Mingrelian დოლო (dolo), ნდოლო (ndolo), then Proto-Georgian-Zan *dol- is reconstructible, whose vocalism is incompatible with the Armenian. For the rare cases of umlaut in Georgian, see Sarǯvelaʒe.[4]

Noun edit

მდელოჲ (mdeloy)

  1. grass
  2. soap

Usage notes edit

In translations, corresponds to Old Armenian խոտ (xot), դալար (dalar), դեղ (deł), օճառ (ōčaṙ) and բանջար (banǰar).

Descendants edit
