This verb is irregular; as such, it has two main roots. First series present circle screeves (present indicative, imperfect and present subjunctive) use ხედავს and its derivatives (ხედავს, ხედავდა, ხედავდეს). First series future circle screeves (future indicative, conditional and future subjunctive) and second/third series utilize დაინახავს (დაინახავს, დაინახა, დაუნახავს), which, unlike active verbs, cannot be used without the given preverb და- (da-).

In the sense of to meet, the verb is also irregular. First series present circle screeves use ხედავს and its derivatives. First series future circle uses different verb root ინახულებს and its derivatives, though it is debatable. Second and third series use ნახა and its derivatives (ნახა, უნახავს).
