ὕδνον
Ancient Greek

editEtymology
editThe word has hesitantly been connected to ὕδωρ (húdōr, “water”) as "juicy", to ὕω (húō, “to rain”) as "rain plant" and to ὗς (hûs, “swine”) as "sow-bread". In view of the alternative forms, Beekes argues for a Pre-Greek word and links it with ἴτον (íton, “kind of mushroom”).
