From Old Japanese. Compound of 三十 (miso, “thirty”) + ち (chi, a suffix derived from つ (tsu), an Old Japanese counter). Compare 二十歳 (hatachi, “twenty years old”).
This reading is obsolete, and has been superseded by みそじ (misoji).
