  1. quyi, a category of traditional, usually non-staged, Chinese vocal art forms such as changqu (唱曲, ballad singing), shuoshu (说书, storytelling), xiaopin (小品, comic dialogues), kuaiban (快板, clapper talk), and xiangsheng (相声, crosstalk).

Usage notesEdit

The term 曲艺 acquired wide usage only after 1949. It is nearly synonymous with the earlier term 说唱.
